In a monarchy a king or queen is Head of State. For Riocht na TirNeart the Monarch is the Head of State and Head of Government. This is known as an Absolute Monarchy - a Monarchy with absolute power. As Head of State, H.M An Ard Ri undertakes constitutional and representational duties in relation to the state of Riocht na TirNeart, in the role as head of Government H.M leads and developes policy relating to the governement of the nation.These roles are performed through different types of engagement.
